Experimenting with SN6505

Last week I played a lot with SN6505 from TI… So much power in so small SOT23-6.

First and foremost, power source for VFD display (30VDC anode voltage, and ~2.5VAC for cathode)…

Small ring was too small, I used medium one (R 12.5/7.5/5 B64290L0044X087)
It works!

Efficiency at max current 95%! Amazing. Let’s try to get more power!

R 10/6/4 B64290L0038X087 smallest one!

With load 3.6W, diodes are hot, transformer & SN6505 are cold, efficiency 83%…

With load 5W, input current 1.25A (max designed current 1A!) everything is very hot, efficiency still 83%… Worked without any problems for hours!

Transfomer output:

Frequency hopping to reduce EMI. Cool feature.

One snapshot. Looks great!

SN6505 output. Looks beautiful!
