When too many things come on my to-do list, I can&#8217;t decide what to do next. And then I do nothing. Not good \ud83d\udca9<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I have learned something new. I found some <a href=\"https:\/\/forum.swissmicros.com\/viewtopic.php?f=2&amp;t=415\">discussions <\/a>about landscape <em>HP42s<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Problems: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><em>42s <\/em>have six soft-keys. They should be somehow aligned with display. But display from &#8220;voyager&#8221; hardware is too small and can&#8217;t be pushed fully to the left.<\/li><li>Existing voyager displays have only one line. <em>42 <\/em>has two. Also annunciators should be displayed.<\/li><li>Some people think, what landscape calculators are stupid. But fascinating. Personally I love them.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, I think I can overcome these problems, I&#8217;ve found an interesting display, 132&#215;32 pixels (original <em>42<\/em> has 131&#215;16 + annunciators). So it would be enough to display up to 4 lines (e.g. XYZ+annunciators\/time || soft-menu + XY + annunciators)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Also, I have found a very interesting <a href=\"https:\/\/hackaday.io\/project\/179949-openrpncalc\/\">OpenRPN<\/a> project. Hopefully, I could combine some ideas from it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Original <em>42 <\/em>has 37 buttons. SwissMicros has +6 soft keys. Voyager series has 39 buttons available &#8211; so I have two buttons to spare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I quickly adjusted one Free42 skin to see how it could look like:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"513\" height=\"294\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.jeskevic.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/image.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-276 lazyload\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jeskevic.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/image.png 513w, https:\/\/www.jeskevic.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/image-300x172.png 300w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 513px) 100vw, 513px\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 513px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 513\/294;\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CLS and R\u2191 buttons are added to this skin, I plan to replace R\u2191 with &#8220;42&#8221; button, which should be like &#8220;second shift&#8221;, and for Free42 configurations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CLS may be replaced with SST\u2192 &amp; SST\u2191. (They will look quite logical in this configuration).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But still, my biggest problem: how to put the text on labels.
