I’ve received 5x ESP32 (because, you know, STM is now pretty hard to get). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

First evening: unpacked one, flashed MicroPython, sta_if.scan()<\/code>… nothing<\/em>. What? It sees something only if very close to the router. Panicked, installed Arduino (no!!!!), flashed… nothing<\/em>. It was late…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next day, unpacked the other four, flashed Arduino WiFiScan. And everything works! Whaaaaat? Time to get my flatiron<\/a> hot, and open this shield!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yes, antenna biasing circuit – one capacitor not properly soldered<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Even without any contact to the antenna, everything shielded, it was “only” 40dB worse than proper ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was crazy to connect via WiFi and use WebREPL to send the commands directly to this thing, and with interpreter running on ESP32 see how the led blinks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tried uPy, got the web-PWM example running, but it wanted with every start to flash the image again… So, now installed VScode + pymakr + micropy-cli + linter & IntelliSense. Pure magic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I still don’t know what to do with this thing, but this is sooo interesting, I can’t stop playing with it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the weather was so nice, and I haven’t ridden my bike for a very long time…<\/p>\n\n\n\n
